Rosamond beats KV, sits alone atop HDL
ROSAMOND — The Rosamond girls basketball team defeated Kern Valley 59-43 to break a tie atop the High Desert League standings.
The Roadrunners (8-7, 4-0 HDL) are now alone in first place in league.
“We have overcome a lot of injuries as of late and it was a big win for us,” Rosamond coach Justin Armstrong said. “The girls were so happy at the end of this game.”
Jazmine Borrego, the reigning league MVP, scored 25 points to lead the Roadrunners, while Hannah Grimes scored 15 and Maeyll Grimes added 14.
“It was very intense, but our girls had a lot of poise, were very strong and had a lot of control,” Armstrong said.
Rosamond plays at Kern Valley on Feb. 4.
“They’re going to be ready for us the next time around, so we have to get even better,” Armstrong said. “When we go to KV it’s going to be a different game. We know that and the girls know that, which is good.”
The Roadrunners will play at Desert in an HDL game on Tuesday.
