Wood chip fire chars one acre
LANCASTER (CNS) — Firefighters took less than two hours to put out a brush fire Sunday that started in wood chips in Lancaster and spread to one acre in windy conditions.
The fire was reported at 9:15 p.m., at 49155 Three Points Road, according to Los Angeles County Fire Department Dispatch Supervisor Michael Pittman.
The fire was a half-acre, burning wood chips and grass when firefighters arrived. It had spread to one acre by 10:42 p.m., fire officials said.
Firefighters established a perimeter and put out the flames by 11 p.m., Pittman said.
They cleared the scene at 12:30 a.m. after making certain there were no hot spots.
No structures were threatened and there were no injuries.
