Wood chip fire chars one acre

LAN­CASTER (CNS) — Fire­fight­ers took less than two hours to put out a brush fire Sun­day that started in wood chips in Lan­caster and spread to one acre in windy con­di­tions.

The fire was re­ported at 9:15 p.m., at 49155 Three Points Road, ac­cord­ing to Los An­ge­les County Fire Depart­ment Dis­patch Su­per­vi­sor Michael Pittman.

The fire was a half-acre, burn­ing wood chips and grass when fire­fight­ers ar­rived. It had spread to one acre by 10:42 p.m., fire of­fi­cials said.

Fire­fight­ers es­tab­lished a perime­ter and put out the flames by 11 p.m., Pittman said.

They cleared the scene at 12:30 a.m. af­ter mak­ing cer­tain there were no hot spots.

No struc­tures were threat­ened and there were no in­juries.
