California City man convicted of assault
BAKERSFIELD — A Kern County jury on Tuesday found a California City man guilty of multiple charges of felony sexual assault on a child who was nine and
10 years old at the time of the crimes.
Bunn, 50, was convicted on a total of seven counts for the assaults which took place over the course of a year in 2018 and 2019, according to the Kern County District Attorney’s Office.
He is scheduled to be sentenced on March 17, and faces up to 145 years to life
“Sexual crimes against children often carry lengthy sentences because the crime has been ongoing for so long before it is detected,” Kern County District Attorney Cynthia Zimmer said. “Those that prey on children rightly face some of the longest sentences under the law.”
Bunn, who was married to the victim’s mother at the time of the crimes, was arrested by California City Police in March 2019.
He has been held in Kern County Jail without bail ever since.
