He’s in trouble

-

While Donald Trump was busily defending his use of the drug, hydroxychloroquine, despite the criticism of medical experts and other rational people, and firing yet another inspector general because he was doing his job, the polls show that more and more voters are supporting Joe Biden for president and a bunch of Democratic senatorial candidates.

A recent poll of battleground states found that Biden has six to eight percent more support than Hillary Clinton received and is leading in all these critical states. He leads by six points in Florida, seven in Arizona and Pennsylvania, five points in Minnesota and one in Georgia.

In the Senate seats, Mark Kelly, a former astronaut, leads in Arizona against the Republican incumbent, Martha McSally, by 13 points. If she loses, it will be the second time in two years she lost her senate seat. In Colorado, John Hickenlooper, the past governor, leads incumbent Cory Gardner by double digits.

Democratic challengers lead by two or three points in North Carolina, Maine and Georgia. Senator Susan Collins in Maine appears to be in deep trouble, caused, in part, by her unpopular vote for Judge Brett Kavanaugh. She is no longer seen by many as an independent Republican. Steve Bullock, the governor of Montana, is in a toss up race against the GOP incumbent.

There are many reasons voters are supporting Democrats. Trump did little to deal with the virus in January, February or early March, and the nation has now seen 100,00 Americans die. And of course, Trump has bungled the economic situation, and we now have 39 million people unemployed. There are still five months to go, but Trump is behaving like someone who knows he is in trouble.
