It’s the best time of the year
How did the holiday season get here so quickly? Weren’t we just discussing how to celebrate Halloween not too long ago?
At any rate, here we are and Christmas is on its way. Hopefully you all had a great Thanksgiving, even if you were unable to celebrate with friends and family.
Because Christmas is but a few weeks away, we are focusing on the most jolly time of year in this edition of Lifestyle magazine. Normally, we’d share with you, all of the events happening in and around the Antelope Valley, but unfortunately, most have been canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
So instead, we’ll focus on Christmases of years past.
This month, Vern Lawson shares some information on historic dates in December in his Hometown History column.
Have you been naughty or nice? The answer will determine whether you’re visited by St. Nick this holiday season or Krampus, his evil counterpart. We have a story in this month’s edition, explaining the origins of Krampus.
Norma Gurba takes us back in time to the Valley’s pioneer days and gives us a peek at how Christmas was celebrated.
If you’re still unsure about what to gift someone, why not tea? Scott Lee shares a few suggestions in his Tea Tales column.
Meanwhile, if you want to imbibe something a bit stronger, try Wheeler Cowperthwaite’s recipe for Glühwein, which can be made on the stove top or in a Crockpot.
Not everything Christmas-related in the Valley is canceled. The youngsters can still visit with Santa at the Antelope Valley Mall and the AVTA is hosting their Stuff-A-Bus event to benefit area children.
Grab some hot cocoa or a cup of Glühwein and enjoy this month’s edition of Lifestyle magazine.
