AVHS Hunter Dodge Classic starts Monday

The Antelope Valley High School boys basketball team’s 7th Annual Hunter Dodge Classic is moving from January to November.

The tournament kicks off the winter season on Monday, the first day winter sports can begin, at Antelope Valley High School.

Six local teams — Antelope Valley, Lancaster Baptist, Rosamond, California City, Desert and Mojave — and four teams from out of the area — Wasco, Cobalt, Highland (Bakersfiel­d) and Barstow — are set to compete in the tournament.

California City and Wasco kick off the tournament at 4 p.m. on Monday, Cobalt and Rosamond follow at 5:30 p.m. and Antelope Valley and Lancaster Baptist close out the night at 7 p.m.

Mojave will play the winner of the Cobalt and Rosamond game at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Highland (Bakersfiel­d) takes on the winner of Wasco and Cal City at 4:30 p.m. and Desert plays Barstow at 6 p.m.

The Classic also has a consolatio­n bracket. Games are scheduled through Thursday.
