-

Lizzy is a two-year-old, altered, female German Shepherd that was brought to the Palmdale Animal Care Center on Oct. 1. Lizzy has shown a good, gentle and dainty demeanor. She was very social with people and allowed examination and handling by the staff. She readily sought attention and welcomed some good dog food. She is social and non-reactive around other dogs. During her play yard time, Lizzy was at the back of the kennel as the runner approached. She had concerned eyes, retracted ears and a low tail. When the handler entered the kennel and presented the loop leash, she dodged it a couple of times before the handler was able to loop leash her. She exited the kennel willingly and walked to the play yard with no pull on the leash. She entered the catch pen with a low tail, soft eyes and a relaxed body. She was easily collared by the handler. Lizzy bypassed the other dogs and roamed the yard, exploring her surroundings. She was tolerant of dogs trailing her to sniff her. She was approached by a male Shepherd and later, a female Pitbull and greeted them both kindly. She roamed the yard among the other dogs and continued to exchange soft greetings with them. She approached a male Shepherd and offered him a play bow. He returned the play bow and they engaged in gentle/dainty play. She engaged in gentle/ dainty play with multiple dogs during her time in the yard. Lizzy is recommended to a home with middle school-aged children. Large dogs in the home are OK. She will be at a pet adoption event from noon to 3 p.m., Sunday, at Transplants Brewery Company, 40242 La Quinta Lane. You also can visit her at the center during public hours of 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., and extended hours of 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., Wednesdays.
