-

Tigres is a two-year-old, brown and brindle, altered, male Pitbull that was brought to the Palmdale Animal Care Center as a stray. Tigres was fearful when he first came to the center. He allowed being examined by the medical staff. He was a little thin for his size. There is no telling how long he has been running the streets when he was found. Tigres then became friendly; he allowed being handled and sought attention. Initially he stayed at the rear of the kennel, with concerned eyes, tense body and raised hackles. The handler presented his hand to the gate and he slowly and shyly approached. As the handler opened the gate, he excitedly pawed and attempted to door dash. The handler was able to easily place the leash over his head. As he made his way to the pen, he walked ahead of the runner with a light pull on the leash. When he arrived at the pen, he confidently approached the fence and exchanged a good nose-to-nose greeting with a female Pitbull. In the yard he greeted a male Shepherd. He had soft eyes, a relaxed body and a neutral tail wag. He then broke away and explored the yard. He tolerated and later played with a female Pitbull. As other dogs were being introduced, he would approach them and give them a friendly greeting. He remained social and tolerant and preferred a gentle/dainty play style. Tigres is recommended to a home with middle school-aged children and is OK to be in a home with large dogs. To meet Tigres, visit the center between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m., daily, and 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., Wednesdays.
