KIMBROUGH, Marjorie Lea

Marge was born to Leonard and Marie Rogers in Lyford, Texas. She had three brothers, Dub, Jack and Tom Rogers. After her father's passing her mom married Master Sgt Bert Sawdey who was stationed at Edwards AFB, introducin­g her to the Antelope Valley. She moved to Long beach, working for Mark Taper of the Mark Taper Forum. This is where she met and married Richard Kimbrough in April of 1949. They moved to Palmdale in 1955 and raised two daughters, Renee Kimbrough and Kristi Mayes. Richard passed in 1975. In 1983 she was blessed with her granddaugh­ter, Holly Kimbrough Lewis. She married J. Albert White in 1976 and grew her family with his children, Charlotte, Ruth, Dave, John and James White. Kristi's marriage to Marcus Mayes brought granddaugh­ter Gioia and great grandchild­ren Ryken and Sky. Marge was also a second mother to many. Marge was very involved in the community, having been called the Founding Mother of the City of Palmdale. She was a member of the Chamber of Commerce, City Treasurer, a director of the AVBOR while working for Steven B. Marvin Real Estate, Palmdale Regional Airport Advisory Committee, Palmdale City Library, Palmdale Elementary School District and High Desert Horsemen's Associatio­n.

A celebratio­n of her life will be held at the AV Country Club, 39800 Country Club Drive, Palmdale on Dec. 4, 2022 at 10:00 a.m.
