Crash, stabbing victims are identified

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s office has identified a man who was killed Wednesday in a two-vehicle collision on the Pearblosso­m Highway (State Route 138) near Llano and a man who was fatally stabbed Monday in Lancaster.

David Hernandez, 37, was identified Wednesday as the crash victim. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics.

The crash was reported at 1:07 a.m. and officers from the California Highway Patrol were called to the highway and 185th Street East, where they found the victim trapped in one of the vehicles and debris strewn across the roadway, CHP Officer Sean Lough told City News Service.

One vehicle flipped on its side and another vehicle, a sedan, was found off the highway in the bushes.

The stabbing victim was identified Wednesday as John Amaya, 42. His city of residency was not immediatel­y known.

Deputies responded around 2:35 p.m. Monday to the 43400 block of Sixth Street East, where a man was found with stab wounds and pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

There was no descriptio­n of a suspect or possible motive for the crime.

The stabbing was the second killing of the day in Lancaster. An unidentifi­ed man was fatally shot shortly after midnight Monday in the 43900 block of Delgado Court, sheriff’s officials said.
