Basketball
• Youth Academy: AVAC United presents “No Limit” Basketball Training Academy from November 2023 to February 2024.
The academy will be from 6-9 p.m. Monday through Thursday at Endeavour Middle School and Amargosa Middle School for girls and boys first grade through eighth grade. The cost is $75 per month or $250 for all four months paid in advance.
Training includes up to two sessions per week and eight sessions per month. Players will learn shooting, passing, dribbling, defense, rebounding, court vision, conditioning, teamwork and have fun.

• Winter 5K Run4Kids: The Child Evangelism Fellowship’s Winter 5K Run4Kids is at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 16 at Desert Sands Park, 39117 3rd St. E. in Palmdale.
The cost is $20 per runner and all participants will receive a T-shirt. All proceeds support the ministry of Child Evangelism Fellowship.
Check-in is from 8-8:45 a.m. The first race is a 5K for ages 11 and up at 9 a.m., followed by a 1K run for ages 1-10 at 9:45 a.m. Awards will be presented at 10 a.m.
• High Desert Runners event:
Christmas Lights Run #1, 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 19. Meet in the AVC Parking Lot at the corner of J8 and 30th West. Come join us as we run west Lancaster in search of the best Christmas Lights displays! Bring a light to see and BE SEEN! The route is around 4 miles but can be adapted.
Pickleball
• Weekly classes: Come join the fun and learn to play pickleball. Play on the Pickleball Courts at Sgt. Steve Owen Memorial Park on Saturday 8 a.m.-1 p.m., Monday and Tuesday 5-7:30 p.m. Equipment and instruction provided by Joe Dagata, call 661-943-3357 for more information.
Advanced players are welcome to join Team AV Pickleball. For more information call/text Dana Young at 661-209-0451. Team AV practices regularly in Palmdale and competes out of the area winning Gold, Silver and Bronze medals.
