Men’s Top 25 Chicago State 75,

No. 25 Northweste­rn 73

EVANSTON, Ill. — Wesley Cardet Jr. scored 30 points and Chicago State stunned No. 25 Northweste­rn in an upset.

Boo Buie made two layups 41 seconds apart to put Northweste­rn in front 67-65 with 2:30 left in a back-andforth game. Cardet tied it 26 seconds later and then hit a 3-pointer with 1:23 remaining for a 70-67 lead.

Chicago State (4-9) sealed it with three late free throws from A.J. Neal and two by Noble Crawford.

Northweste­rn was favored by 24 1/2 points, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.

Cardet shot 13 of 21 and Jahsean Corbett added 17 points for the Cougars, a Division I independen­t.

Buie had 23 points and Ryan Langborg scored 18 for the Wildcats (72), who lost to Chicago State for the first time. Northweste­rn had won 15 straight against the South Side program since the teams first met in 1981.

Brooks Barnhizer had 13 points for the Wildcats, who were trying for their first win as a ranked team inside WelshRyan Arena since No. 6 Northweste­rn defeated Iowa 80-77 on Jan. 3, 1959.

UNLV 79, No. 8 Creighton 64

HENDERSON, Nev. — Kalib Boone scored 25 points and UNLV led nearly the entire way against Creighton in the Jack Jones Classic.

Dedan Thomas Jr. added 16 points and nine assists for the Rebels (4-4). Justin Webster scored 13 and Keylan Boone had 10.

UNLV was a 13½-point underdog, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.

It was the first appearance at UNLV for Keylan Boone, whose twin brother is Kalib, after a federal judge in West Virginia ruled double transfers could play immediatel­y. Keylan Boone also played at Oklahoma State and Pacific.

Ryan Kalkbrenne­r led the Bluejays (8-2) with 22 points.

No. 15 Florida Atlantic 94, FIU 60

BOCA RATON, Fla. — Johnell Davis scored 16 points and Alijah Martin had 14 as Florida Atlantic rolled past rival Florida Internatio­nal.

Bryan Greenlee and Brandon Weatherspo­on each scored 12 for the Owls (8-2), who opened the game on a 12-2 run and never looked back.

Jaidon Lipscomb scored 17 points for FIU (3-8).

FAU shot 64% to FIU’s 36%, outrebound­ed the Panthers 43-27 and held a 48-20 edge in points in the paint. It was FAU’s seventh consecutiv­e win over its regional rival; the campuses are about 60 miles apart.

No. 18 BYU 90, Denver 74

PROVO, Utah — Jaxson Robinson made eight 3-pointers and scored 28 points, both career bests, to lead BYU past Denver.

Noah Waterman finished with 22 points and a career-high 14 rebounds for his first double-double with the Cougars. Spencer Johnson added 11 points, 10 rebounds and six assists.

BYU (9-1) shot 50% from the field and coasted to its seventh double-digit win of the season.

Jaxon Brenchley led Denver (6-5) with a career-high 21 points and seven rebounds. It was his first game back in his home state since joining the Pioneers as a graduate transfer from Utah.

Women’s Top 25 No. 5 Texas 88, Arizona 75

TUCSON, Ariz. — Rori Harmon had 19 points, 11 assists and nine rebounds, and Taylor Jones added 16 points as Texas beat Arizona to remain unbeaten.

The Longhorns (11-0) extended their best start in eight years by shooting 51.6% in the game and converting 21 Arizona turnovers into 25 points.

Texas is off its its finest start since opening the 2015-16 season with 16 consecutiv­e wins.

Kailyn Gilbert led Arizona (7-3) with 26 points.

No. 18 Louisville 74, Morehead St. 48

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Nyla Harris and Olivia Cochran each scored 16 points and Louisville beat Morehead State to extend its winning streak to six games.

Cochran also had 11 rebounds for her second double-double of the season. Harris added nine rebounds as the Cardinals had a 47-39 rebounding edge.

Kiki Jefferson added 12 points for Louisville (10-1).

Veronica Charles scored 15 points for Morehead State (4-6). Melissa Secchiarol­i, averaging 10.2 points per game, was held to five points.

No. 19 Marquette 76, No. 20 Creighton 70

MILWAUKEE — Liza Karlen had 25 points and 12 rebounds for her second double-double of the season, Mackenzie Hare added 15 points and No. 19 Marquette beat No. 20 Creighton in the Big East opener for both teams.

The teams were tied at 64 with 4:28 left in the fourth quarter before Marquette pulled away by scoring on three straight possession­s, two by Karlen. Creighton’s only field goal in the final four minutes came with 38 seconds remaining.

Rose Nkumu and Jordan King each had 11 points for Marquette (10-0).

Emma Ronsiek led Creighton (7-2) with 29 points.
