Basketball

• Youth Academy: AVAC United presents “No Limit” Basketball Training Academy from November 2023 to February 2024.

The academy will be from 6-9 p.m. Monday through Thursday at Endeavour Middle School and Amargosa Middle School for girls and boys first grade through eighth grade. The cost is $75 per month or $250 for all four months paid in advance.

Training includes up to two sessions per week and eight sessions per month. Players will learn shooting, passing, dribbling, defense, rebounding, court vision, conditioni­ng, teamwork and have fun.

Running

• High Desert Runners event: The High Desert Runners will be competing in the Master’s University Winter 5K at 9 a.m. on Jan. 13 at The Master’s University, 21726 Placerita Canyon Rd., Santa Clarita.

The course is partly road and partly trail in a beautiful open space area.

Pickleball

• Weekly classes: Come join the fun and learn to play pickleball.

Play on the Pickleball Courts at Sgt. Steve Owen Memorial Park on Saturday 8 a.m.-1 p.m., Monday and Tuesday 5-7:30 p.m. Equipment and instructio­n provided by Joe Dagata, call 661-943-3357 for more informatio­n.

Advanced players are welcome to join Team AV Pickleball. For more informatio­n call/text Dana Young at 661-209-0451. Team AV practices regularly in Palmdale and competes out of the area winning Gold, Silver and Bronze medals.
