Paraclete girls take down Pomona Catholic

LANCASTER — The Paraclete girls basketball team defeated visiting Pomona Catholic 54-13 in a Santa Fe League game on Tuesday at Paraclete High.

The Spirits improved to 8-9 overall and 5-3 in league play, which is fourth place.

Paraclete had a balanced scoring attack against Pomona Catholic with three players scoring in double figures.

Junior Ava Zubia led the Spirits with 14 points and added five rebounds and two steals, while senior Marina Arredondo followed with 12 points, five rebounds and two blocks and freshman Phaedra Chatman added 10 points, six rebounds, one steal and one block.

Paraclete plays host to third-place St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy (12-10, 4-2) on Thursday. The Spirits lost to SPXSMA 57-20 on Dec. 5.

AV High 83, Littlerock 12

LANCASTER — Antelope Valley junior Niya Price scored 46 points to lead the Antelopes to an 83-12 victory over Littlerock on Tuesday at AV High.

Ariana Soil added 13 points for the Antelopes (10-2, 7-2 GL) and Jenesis Deering scored nine points.

Antelope Valley plays at Eastside on Thursday, while Littlerock (0-11, 0-9) hosts league-leading Highland.

LANCASTER — The Antelope Valley girls soccer team defeated Littlerock 5-0 in a Golden League game on Tuesday at AVHS.

Jessica Rendon and Giselle Medrano each scored two goals for the Antelopes (84, 6-3 GL) and Elizabeth Rendon added a goal of her own.

Antelope Valley plays at Eastside on Thursday, while Littlerock (5-6-1, 3-5-1) plays host to Highland.
