Gunfire tracking will cut crime rate

-

Two thumbs up to the Lancaster City Council (Antelope Valley Press article, “Lancaster might make deal for tracking gunfire” (Jan. 9).

The Lancaster council is considering a proposal for a six-month trial to track gunfire in a 4-square-mile area in the city. It would be a huge step forward in locating, investigating and prosecuting illegal gunfire and reducing crime in the city. The software seems to be fairly sophisticated in being able to detect gunshots within 80 feet of the actual location of the firing. This includes the sound of guns of 25 caliber and larger.

According to the article, many municipalities around the country already use this service. Hopefully, the service can prove to be adequate, be adopted citywide and ultimately reduce gun violence. Who knows, it may be feasible to adapt the technology and employ its use against all of July’s yearly illegal fireworks around the city.

Many two thumbs down to Jake Pickering’s letter, “US should remove Netanyahu as PM” (Jan. 9). It’s a hatefilled, invective rant, an embarrassment really, to anyone who reads it. The article is an unabashed call for the US to assassinate Benjamin Netanyahu, Israel’s prime minister. The US should just go ahead and murder him? As in a holiday gift to the world (paraphrasing Pickering)? Unbelievable!

Then what’s to stop Mossad, Israeli intelligence agency (considered the best in the world by many) from killing Biden? Then what? Madness?

Isn’t there enough hate and violence in the world today?

Isn’t there enough insanity in the world today?
