Animal ID No.: A5602347 Animal name: Miley

-

Miley is a 6-year-old, tan and black, female, German Shepherd that was captured by the sheriff’s station after running loose, then brought to the Palmdale Animal Care Center. Her owner could not keep her confined and eventually signed her over for adoption. She was surrendered with her brother, who is also up for adoption. Miley was very scared and nervous when she first arrived. She is emaciated and needs to gain some healthy weight. She loves getting treats and will show you her tricks to get them. She knows “sit,” “down” and “shake.” She gets excited to go for walks and can pull a bit on the leash. She enjoyed playing with the stuffed squeak toys just as much as she loves getting pets. Due to her age, she does best with calmer dogs. When she arrived at the play yard, she went to the fence to greet a male Labrador and female shepherd. Initially she had soft eyes and a loose body. After a few seconds, she became tense. The handlers backed the other dogs away from the fence and Miley relaxed. A male Labrador came up to her, briefly backed away and then went to approach her again. Miley turned her body to the side while side-eyeing him. As the Labrador came within a few feet of her, she walked away to create space. Once the play had concluded, she walked up to the handler and lightly jumped on his side with an open mouth pant and loose body to solicit affection. The handler kneeled next to her once she was on the ground, rubbing the top of her head and looked into her ears. Miley remained relaxed. The handler also lifted each of her paws and briefly held them. As the handler stood up, she continued to solicit affection and attempted to jump on the runner. Miley can be viewed at the center during its open hours of 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
