Paraclete softball sweeps tourney games
The Paraclete softball team won two more games in the South Gate Tournament on Saturday, defeating Golden Valley 13-0 in four innings and Marquez 18-0 in four innings.
Paraclete pitcher Jamie Sencion picked up the win in the circle against Marquez, throwing a no-hitter with eight strikeouts.
JoJo Olvera went 2-for-3 with an RBI for the Spirits (4-0), while Avery Carberry hit two doubles with an RBI and Sydney Scripter had three hits.
Shaylee Scripter earned the win against Golden Valley, allowing two hits with eight strikeouts.
Katelyn Young recorded three hits and three RBIs for the Spirits, while Sydney Scripter picked up three hits and two RBIs.
Paraclete was scheduled to play Serrano on Tuesday, but the game was rained out and rescheduled for Thursday.
Paraclete will play a doubleheader at Garces Memorial on Saturday.
“Looking forward to that to really challenge the team,” Paraclete coach Margaret Neill said.
Boys Volleyball AV High 3, Rosamond 0
LANCASTER — The Antelope Valley boys volleyball team started the season with a 25-10, 25-19, 25-19 victory over Rosamond on Tuesday at AV High.
“Feels good to get an early season win,” AV coach Ed Campbell said. “We moved the ball around, saw some good things in set one. Tried a few new things in sets two and three.
“Glad with the effort, but know our next match with Paraclete will be a challenge.”
The Antelopes play host to Paraclete tonight.
Boys Basketball CIF-Central Section Semifinals
The Rosamond and California City boys basketball teams lost in the CIF-Central Section semifinals on Tuesday.
The No. 4 Roadrunners fell to No. 1 Coalinga 70-42 in the Division 5 semifinals.
The No. 3 Ravens dropped their Division 6 semifinal game to No. 2 Caruthers, 54-41.
