PALMDALE — The Knight baseball team broke a tie in the fourth inning against Palmdale with a grand slam by Louie Nieto and the Hawks went on to win 11-3.

Nieto’s grand slam broke the game wide open as the Hawks scored two in the fifth and two in the sixth.

Boys Tennis Quartz Hill 17, Knight 1

QUARTZ HILL — The Quartz Hill boys tennis team defeated Knight 17-1 on Tuesday at Quartz Hill High.

The Hawks were missing a third singles player and had to forfeit those three sets to start the match.

“Quartz Hill tennis players were just too solid today,” Knight coach James Jutila said. “Knight Hawks had moments of good play and some solid points, but the Royals were very deep and had few weaknesses.”

Quartz Hill No. 1 singles player Kolbe Adams and No. 2 Jonny Hayen both swept their sets 6-0, 6-0 and benefitted from 6-0 forfeits

“Kolbe from QHHS was cracking some great forehand winners and Jonny played aggressive and consistent,” Jutila said.

Aldonn Duero picked up the lone win for the Hawks, 6-2, at No. 1 singles over Royals No. 3 singles player Jeffrey, who won a 6-2 set with a 6-0 forfeit victory.

Knight’s No. 1 doubles team of Angel Aguilar and Wayne Jarvis fought hard in their three sets, but lost 6-4, 6-2, 6-3.

“QHHS played smart and strategic fighting off our No. 1 doubles of Wayne Jarvis and Angel Aguilar to prevent them from winning a single set, even though they won enough games to win a set, but those games were spread overthree sets,” Jutila said.

Quartz Hill’s Minh Hoang and Ben swept 6-4, 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 doubles, while Nathan and Colton won 6-2, 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2 and No. 3 Zach and Seth won 6-3, 6-1, 6-0.

The Royals host Littlerock today, while Knight hosts Eastside at Antelope Valley High.
