Paraclete softball picks up win at St. Anthony

-

LONG BEACH — The Paraclete softball team defeated St. Anthony 10-3 on Tuesday in a Del Rey League road game.

Jamie Sencion earned the win in the circle for the Spirits (182, 4-2 Del Rey), allowing three runs on four hits and three walks with 10 strikeouts. She gave up two runs in the bottom of the first inning, which tied the game at 2-2, and settled down after that.

“She really did a good job keeping them off balance today,” Paraclete coach Margaret Neill said.

The offense started off a little slow as the Spirits led 3-2 until the fifth inning.

“We were kind of lethargic,” Neill said. “We pulled it out. We didn’t play the greatest game, but we stuck it out.”

Paraclete scored two runs in the fifth and one in the sixth before breaking out with four runs in the seventh.

Addi Vandecar picked up two hits, two RBIs and two runs for the Spirits, while Sencion also had two hits and two RBIs and Katelyn Young hit two doubles with three RBIs.

Paraclete has the next week off before playing a non-league game against Lancaster at home on April 5.
