Rancho Vista community queens are crowned

Caitin Gutierrez, 18, the daughter of Ryan and Heather Cusick, was named Miss Rancho Vista on March 23 at Hillview Middle School.

Gutierrez, a lifelong resident of the Antelope Valley, attends college locally.

She was in ASB for all four years of high school and was also on the cheer team. She loves doing different activities on the lake, like wakeboardi­ng, tubing, and even just swimming.

She loves to travel and see new places. She has helped raise money for animal rescues and was the first humanitari­an recipient of a local rescue.

Her next goal is to help out more local businesses in her community.

She hopes to become a pediatric nurse.

Olivia Beatty, 14, of Palmdale, the daughter of Victoria Beatty, was named Teen Miss Rancho Vista on April 28 in Littlerock.

She is an eighth-grader at Shadow Hills Engineerin­g & Design Magnet Academy. She will be a ninth-grader this fall at Palmdale Academy Charter School.

Among Beatty’s hobbies is golf.

She wants to go to college, graduate early and become a nurse.

Kaitlyn Shannon, 13, of Quartz Hill, the daughter of Robert and Maranda Shannon, was named Junior Miss Rancho Vista on March 23 at Hillview Middle School.

She is a sixth-grader at Quartz Hill Elementary School and will be a seventh-grader at Joe Walker Middle School in the fall.

Shannon loves soccer and cheer. She will also be interviewi­ng for Joe Walker’s AVID program and will be helping out with that program and community service program.

She wants to attend Antelope Valley College and then a four-year college. She hopes to be an interior designer and make a business of her own.

Elaina Grace Jones, 9, of Palmdale, the daughter of Stephen and Sadè Jones, was named Young Miss Rancho Vista on March 23 at Hillview Middle School.

She is a fourth-grader at Anaverde Hills Elementary School and will be a fifth-grader there this fall.

Jones has been dancing at Extensions Performing Arts Academy for the last eight years.

She has aspiration­s of becoming a veterinari­an one day. While she studies in college she hopes to work as a dance choreograp­her. If she has any free time she’d also love to have the opportunit­y to act or sing as she loves doing that also. Harper Jean Mathews, 8, the daughter of Mary and Marie Matthews, was named Little Miss Rancho Vista on March 23 at Hillview Middle School.

She is a second-grader at Rancho Vista Elementary School and will be a third-grader there this fall.

Mathews enjoys gymnastics and horseback riding. During the holidays she will join one of her moms and her brother to go out and provide food to the homeless. She also loves playing makeup and getting dressed up and doing her nails, as well as singing.

When she grows up, she wants to be president (hopefully the first girl president).

Emma Curiel, 5, the daughter of Robert and David Curiel, was named Tiny Miss Rancho Vista on March 23 at Hillview Middle School.

She attends Manzanita Headstart.

She will be a kindergart­ner at Los Amigos School this fall.

Curiel enjoys dancing, whether it be tap dancing or ballet.

When she grows up, she wants to be a doctor so she can help people.
