Quartz Hill boys golf team shoots its lowest score of season

PALMDALE — The Quartz Hill boys golf team shot its lowest team score of the year in 18 holes with a 384 on Thursday in a Golden League match against Palmdale, Antelope Valley and Lancaster at Rancho Vista Golf Course.

Quartz Hill junior Tayden Ramos shot his lowest score of the year with a 5-under 67, while junior Jonah Grado also shot his lowest score with a 2-over 74.

Rounding out the rest of the Royals score was Kerrington Ambrose (79), Cody Breuklande­r (82), Alexander Delfin (82) and Sean Clay (82).

“The team is coming together and we have some good golfers 1-8,” Quartz Hill coach Dan Pratt said. “They are starting to put some good rounds together and I like where the team is.

“Tayden has been consistent and looks to wrap up his third Golden League individual championsh­ip. He shot a 30 (6-un- der) on the back (nine) with an eagle on the final hole.”

The Royals have four matches next week, starting with the McClung Tournament on Monday at Crystalair­e Country

Club. They then have a league match on Tuesday and compete against Walnut on Wednesday and Hart on Thursday.

Baseball Quartz Hill 12, Littlerock 5

QUARTZ HILL — The Quartz Hill baseball team beat Littlerock 12-5 in a Golden League game on Friday at Quartz Hill High School.

Quartz Hill improves to 17-4 overall and 7-2 in league.

Quartz Hill senior Connor Gregory finished with three hits and two RBIs, senior Esteban Sepulveda had two hits, including a home run, and four RBIs and senior Jeffrey Kavanagh added four hits and two RBIs.

Quartz Hill senior pitcher Beau Karrer struck out six in four innings to get the win.

The Royals jumped out with nine runs in the bottom of the first inning and outhit the Lobos 15-8.
