Hip-hop takes over the soundtrack of Marvel’s newest feature, combining conventional, chartready hits-in-waiting with the adventurous and often moody narrative of the movie. With the playful, the dramatic and the tragic all on one album, this is an album to savour for fans of the movie, but still one to enjoy for hip-hop fans who haven’t had the chance to see the film yet.

FIVE FACTS:

1. British composer Daniel Pemberton scored the non-commercial music that featured in the theatrical production of the movie.

2. Post Malone announced on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon that he had written “Sunflower” for the movie – the first single released from the album.

3. The soundtrack was curated to represent what a teenager like Miles Morales, the main protagonist in the movie, would listen to.

4. The movie is dedicated to Spider-Man co-creator Steve Ditko and Marvel Comics creative leader Stan Lee, who both passed away this year.

5. The late rapper XXXTentacion, who also died in 2018, features on the album on Lil Wayne & Ty Dolla $ign’s “Scared of the Dark”.
