Notes On A Conditional Form

The 1975

-

The English pop rockers’ fourth studio album is the second of two albums from their third release cycle, “Music for Cars”, following 2018’s A Brief Inquiry into Online Relationships.

It’s a project that sees the band’s sound change significantly from previous albums, embracing a variety of genres from industrial rock to house.

FIVE FACTS:

1. The 1975 formed in the town of Wilmslow in the English county of Cheshire in 2002.

2. The group’s members are lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Matthew Healy, lead guitarist Adam Hann, bassist Ross MacDonald, and drummer George Daniel.

3. Their second album, I Like It When You Sleep, for You Are So Beautiful yet So Unaware of It, topped the U.S. Billboard 200 in 2016.

4. Notes On A Conditional Form’s opening track, “The 1975”, features a monologue from climate change activist Greta Thunberg.

5. Writing for Stereogum, Chris DeVille has described the project as “a perfect 1975 album – an acute summary of their obtuse grandeur, a deeply polarizing collection with a little something for everyone.”
