Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar
Two middle-aged single women, friends Barb (Annie Mumolo) and Star (Kristen Wiig), leave their small Midwestern town for a vacation in a Florida resort, Vista Del Mar – where they lust after a younger man, Edgar (Jamie Dornan), and get caught up in a shadowy villain’s evil scheme.
FIVE FACTS:
1. Mumolo and Wiig also co-wrote the screenplay and serve as co-producers of the film.
2. Mumolo and Wiig previously co-wrote – and co-starred in – the 2011 film Bridesmaids.
3. Nonetheless, Wiig confirmed ahead of the release of Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar that this film would not be a sequel to Bridesmaids.
4. Although Florida has a few real-life resorts named the Vista Del Mar, the one in this film is “completely fictional and not based on any of these resorts.”
5. Many of the beach scenes were filmed in the Mexican cities of Cancún and Puerto Vallarta.
