The predominant spark of inspiration for Block Party’s new studio album actually came from the British indie rock band’s past – or to be more exact, their debut album, 2005’s Silent Alarm. However, Alpha Games still looks forward even while tapping into the back catalog.
FIVE FACTS:
1. “As soon as we finish a record and deliver it, that’s usually the point I stop listening to it as it becomes someone else’s,” Block Party singer Kele Okereke admitted to Apple Music.
2. However, during 2018 and 2019, the band performed their debut album live in its entirety at various gigs around the world.
3. During the sound checks of these shows, new music started emerging.
4. “The energy we were putting into the Silent Alarm songs, which were in our blood and our muscle memory, felt connected to these new songs on some level,” Okereke recalled.
5.“There’s something fascinating about menacing things going on beneath the surface,” Okereke said about the new album’s mood.
