White County names 4-H Teen Stars
SEARCY — Several 4H members from White County have been selected for the Arkansas 4-H Teen Stars Program, a recognition program for Arkansas 4-H members who have outstanding achievement in the areas of 4-H projects and activities, leadership and community service.
Named to the program are David Brister, a member of the Home School 4-H Club; Victoria Doughty, Velvet Ridge 4-H Club; Joe Mcalee, Beebe 4-H Club; and Monica Kidd, Bear Pride 4-H Club. They will be recognized at the 2012 Teen Star Banquet, which will be held June 13 in conjunction with the 2012 Teen Leader Conference at the C.A. Vines 4-H Center in Ferndale.
To be named an Arkansas Teen Star, a 4-H member must display the following qualities: leadership ability, integrity of character, high moral standards and high goals, outstanding achievement in both project and service activities, the ability to work with others, a positive attitude, interest in the 4-H program and a general interest in organizations and activities for youth development.
In order for a 4-H member to be chosen as a Teen Star, he or she has to be an active 4-H member, complete two years of work as a 4-H member and complete the application process.
The Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service sponsors the 4-H program statewide. The Extension Service is part of the University of Arkansas’ Division of Agriculture.
