Maumelle attorney named to board of national victim-assistance group
MAUMELLE — Bilenda Harris-ritter of Maumelle has been selected for a twoyear term on the National Organization for Victim Assistance Board of Directors.
NOVA , which was founded in 1975, is the oldest national victim-assistance organization of its type in the United States. It is a private, nonprofit 501 (c) 3 organization headquartered in Alexandria, Va.
Previously, Harris-ritter served four years on the Parents of Murdered Children National Board of Trustees and has worked for enforcement of crime-victim rights since her parents were mur-dered in Stone Count y in 1981.
She is a partner at Ritter Law in Maumelle and a member of the adjunct faculty in the department of criminal justice at University of Arkansas at Little Rock.
Harris-ritter is a trainer for the Arkansas Victims Academy, conducted at the Criminal Justice Institute each July.
She was a founding member of the Crime Victims Assistance Association of Arkansas and authored the organization bylaws.
Harris-ritter previously served as a commissioner on the California Board of Parole Hearings after appointment by the governor of California.
She is a graduate of the University of Southern California and Southwestern University School of Law. She is chairwoman of the Maumelle Tree Board and a sustaining member of the Junior League of Little Rock.
