The party is on this Friday in Perryville as Fourche River Days returns.

The yearly festival, presented by the Perry County Chamber of Commerce, will star t Friday night and last all day Saturday.

This is the festival’s eighth year, and festival chairman Bill Greene said he’s delighted to see how Fourche River Days grows from year to year. Greene estimated that last year, between 3,000 and 8,000 attended the festival, and he hopes even more will visit Perryville this weekend.

“Last year we had a great event; quite a few people came out,” he said. “We had good weather and a lot of people.”

The free festival will offer plenty of food, fun and games for everyone to enjoy.

This year, the Bunco Tournament will return to Fourche River Days.the game is played with three dice, and players alternate turns throwing the dice and trying to hit a target number. Players get one point for each die matching the target but get 21 points if they roll a three-of-a-kind.

Also back this year is a washer-toss tournament, which was introduced to Fourche River Days last year. After a good turnout last year, the festival committee brought the activity back.

“Each one of the events seems to get a little bit larger every year,” Green said.

The entry fee for the washer toss is $10.

What would Fourche River Days be without great food? This year, the vendors will be back with their fairfood creations. There will be the standard hot dogs, nachos and barbecue, of course, but there will be a few offthe-wall items, said Patsy Price, vender coordinator.

From potato twisters to shrimp po’ boy wraps, Fourche River Days will have a great selection of items for visitors to try out.

“I haven’t tried these, so it’s going to be a new experience for me also,” she said.

Price said arts and crafts vendors will also be at the festival.

Fourche River Days will have an extensive children’s area, complete with inflatables an obstacle course and a 20foot-tall climbing wall. Price also said there will be pony rides this year, and Mommy Magic for entertainment.

Price added that the festival’s inflatables are not free, but wristbands for an entire day can be purchased for $7 on Friday or for $10 on Saturday.
