Downtown boutique offers variety of shoes, apparel

Kick’s Active Wear in downtown Conway is a complete outfitter for dance, gymnastics and cheer apparel. The store also carries twirl apparel, pageant active wear and pageant jewelry.

The store, which carries brands such as Bloch, GK, Suffolk Pointe, Body Wrappers, Gaynor Minden, Capezio and Russian Pointe, features more than 70 styles of dance shoes.

Kick’s offers special appointments for pointe-shoe fittings, and studio fittings are available upon request.

“We really enjoy going to studios,” said Dione Vetsch, store manager. “We are able to bring part of our store to them, along with the same personal attention to assure dancers purchase the correct size and fit.”

Owner Mary Cook purchased Kick’s in 1997 shortly after moving to Conway.

“Our family was new to the community, and I thought owning a business would be a great way to meet more people,” she said.

As the mother of four, including two daughters involved in dance and pageants, Cook said she likes to keep the store focused on great customer service and offer reasonable prices.

One way customers can save is with Kick’s Pink Card. For every $10 customers spend in the store, they get a punch on their card. Customers can redeem 20 punches for 25 percent off an entire purchase.

Another option, Kick’s Black Card, offers exclusive savings on pointe shoes.

“After purchasing five pairs of pointe shoes, the customer gets a sixth pair at half-price, plus ribbons, elastic and one other pointe accessory free,” Vetsch said.

Kick’s Active Wear is open from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.
