Shop provides convenience for customers

- Enola 501-849-4080

Nobody wants to deal with loading, hauling, leaving, hauling back and unloading a lawnmower. With that in mind, Tommy Byrd, the owner of On-site Lawnmower Repair, brings the repair shop to driveways all over the area.

“I will fix your lawnmower in your driveway,” Byrd said.

Byrd carries the shop — all service equipment, plus a full stock of parts — in his truck to service mowers in the area.

He prides himself on charging a flat rate for his operations, rather than an hourly labor rate. For a push mower, there is a fee of $49 plus parts, and for a rider, the fee is $149 plus parts. He said he charges all customers the same, whether they live a mile down the road or 30 miles away. If a mower is beyond repair, there is no charge.

For each repair job, Byrd does a full inspection of the lawnmower. Anything that needs to be repaired will be fixed.

The result is a 99-percent completion rate of repairs in one trip.

“When I leave your home, I know your mower is fixed right, and you won’t be calling to say it doesn’t work,” he said.

Byrd not only offers his services to all of Faulkner County but also serves Maumelle, Mayflower, El Paso and Beebe.

A lot of people rely on Briggs and Stratton engines to power their mowers and Byrd is an authorized Briggs and Stratton warranty service provider.

On-site Lawnmower Repair has grown throughout the years. In 2007, Byrd repaired more than 400 mowers. That number doubled in 2008 and continued to grow to more than 1,000 mowers repaired in 2009.

Byrd is available to work on mowers from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.
