8 independents OK’D for Legislature ballots

-

Secretary of State Mark Martin said Tuesday that he’s certified eight independent candidates for the Legislature to be on the general election ballot in November.

These independent candidates are Paul White of Mountain View in Senate District 18, Peter Sam Cyphers of El Dorado in House District 6, James George of Sherwood in House District 41, Billy Laman of North Little Rock in District 38, Ronnie Spence of Paragould in House District 57, Dennis Knapp of Prim in House District 64, Mark Moore of Pea Ridge in House District 95 and Anton Such of Yellville in House District 99.

These candidates filed paperwork during the candidate filing period that ended March 1, then gathered signatures of registered voters on a petition for submission by May 1, according to the secretary of state’s office. The number of signatures required to be submitted on the petition for each candidate varied by their legislative district’s number of votes cast during the last gubernatorial election.
