2 stores held up in 10-minute span

Two Little Rock convenienc­e stores were robbed Monday night, each by a man wearing a blue bandana, police said.

About 10:39 p.m., a man wearing a bandana over his face ran into the Big Red store at 6421 S. University Ave. and pointed a handgun at the clerk. The gunman rounded the counter and demanded money, a police report states.

The clerk opened the register and the gunman removed the cash before fleeing the store on foot.

About 10 minutes later, a man matching the same descriptio­n entered the Exxon convenienc­e store at 101 N. Van Buren St. and approached an employee, a police report states.

The man pointed a handgun at the employee and demanded money. The clerk went to the cash register and gave the man the cash drawer, the report states.

After taking the money, the man fled the store on foot toward War Memorial Golf Course.

In both robberies, the man was described as black and wearing a hooded sweatshirt and bluejeans.

No arrests had been made Tuesday night.
