A designer does exist
Re the recent Perspective article about the universe by Lawrence M. Krauss: Krauss states that “it is possible that the entire universe, matter, radiation, and even space itself could arise spontaneously out of nothing, without explicit divine intervention.” Krauss also states that the 100 billion galaxies in the observable universe were contained in a volume smaller than the size of a single atom prior to the Big Bang 13.7 billion years ago. He implies that if we just wait long enough, something can come from nothing spontaneously, and then come to life; that great order and 100 billion galaxies can come from the explosion of something smaller than a single atom, and that all of this is scientific.
Hats off to Krauss. It takes a truly giant leap of faith to believe this rather than believe that the incredible complexity and design of the universe reflects intelligence—that of the sovereign, living God—the creator of the universe. This latter perspective is confirmed by several thousand creation scientists in this nation, and by the fact that an intelligent-design movement has emerged from within the evolutionist community (including some prominent evolutionary scientists). These scientists have come to the conclusion that the complexity of the universe cannot be explained by Charles Darwin’s theory of evolution, but reveals evidence of design by a conscious being. All of which is totally consistent with the Biblical account of creation. MARK PETERSON
