UALR 9, FLORIDA ATLANTIC 2

UALR scored in each of the final four innings to hand Florida Atlantic its third consecutiv­e loss and clinch the threegame series from the Owls.

Blake Johnson doubled and scored to give UALR (26-24, 12-14) a 4-1 lead in the sixth inning and his three-run home run in the seventh extended its lead to 7-2 while beating Florida Atlantic for the second consecutiv­e day at Gary Hogan Field in Little Rock.

Johnson was one of four Trojans to collect two hits, along with Cameron Bentley, Ben Crumpton and Kaleb Jobe.

Starter Blake Huffman (5-3) held FAU to 2 runs on 5 hits and struck out 6 in 6 innings. Relievers Marshal Hamrick and Bubba Cooper held the Owls to 1 hit and no runs over the final three innings.

FAU (28-20, 16-8) took a 1-0 lead on Mike Albaladejo’s RBI single, but Bentley’s double in the bottom of the third scored John Clark to tie the game at 1-1. Chris Burk then scored on an error and Jobe scored when Crumpton grounded into a double play to make it 3-1 in the fifth. Jobe’s single scored Johnson in the sixth and Crumpton hit an RBI single in the eighth before Bentley scored on a wild pitch to set the final score. FLORIDA INTERNATIO­NAL 10, ARKANSAS STATE 7

JONESBORO — Florida Internatio­nal battered Arkansas State starter Daniel Wright for 7 runs over 4 innings to snap ASU’S five-game winning streak and even the series at one game each Saturday at Tomlinson Field.

FIU (30-21, 14-12) scored runs in four consecutiv­e innings, including a four-run fourth that knocked Wright out of the game when he gave up an RBI single to David Vazquez and a three-run home run to Nathan Burns that gave FIU a 7-4 lead.

The Golden Panthers scored another run in the fifth and two in the eighth and the Red Wolves (28-20, 16-8) couldn’t keep up.

ASU scored four runs in the third when Dustin Jones scored on an error, Michael Faulkner scored on a passed ball before Claude Johnson and Kaleb Brown each hit RBI singles to take a 4-3 lead. But FIU scored four runs in the fourth and ASU never led again.

Johnson went 2 for 4 with 2 RBI and Jones was 3 for 5 with 2 runs scored and 1 RBI for ASU. Wright (2-5) gave up 7 runs on 8 hits and struck out 2 over 4 innings.

CENTRAL ARKANSAS 14, STEPHEN F. AUSTIN 1

NACOGDOCHE­S, Texas — A nine-run second inning carried starter Caleb Mcclanahan and Central Arkansas to a run-rule victory over Stephen F. Austin in seven innings on Saturday in Southland Conference play at Jaycees Field.

Mcclanahan (5-4), a junior right-hander, pitched UCA’S second complete game in as many days, striking out 6, walking 1 and allowing 7 hits.

The Bears (23-25, 15-14), already up 1-0 after one inning, sent 14 batters to the plate in the second against three different Lumberjack pitchers. In the inning, junior third baseman Garrett Brown was 2 for 2 with a leadoff single and a three-run home run. He finished 4 for 5 with 3 RBI and 3 runs scored. The Bears added another run in the fifth inning on Ethan Harris’ sacrifice fly that scored Logan Moon. In the sixth, UCA got three more runs.

The Lumberjack­s (20-30, 13-16) scored their only run of the game in the seventh inning.
