MEGAN BLAIR BARNES ZACHARY TUCK YOUNG
St. Edward Catholic Church was the setting at 6 p.m. Saturday, May 5, for the marriage of Megan Blair Barnes and Dr. Zachary Tuck Young. The Rev. Erik Pohlmeier of Our Lady of the Holy Souls Catholic Church officiated.
Parents of the bride are Jennifer and Gregory Barnes of Memphis. Her grandparents are Betty and the late James Harrison of Crossville, Tenn., and Barbara Talbert and the late Finis Barnes Jr., both of Memphis.
The groom is the son of Glenda and Dr. Jerry Young of Jonesboro. He is the grandson of May and the late William Young and Ruth and the late Freeland Johnson, all of Helena-west Helena.
Music for the ceremony was by members of the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra.
Given in marriage by her parents, the bride wore an ivory satin strapless ball gown with a crystal beaded bodice and front-hem applique. She carried a cascade of ivory miniature calla lilies, ivory garden roses and off-white lisianthus.
Mallory Brooke Barnes of Memphis was her sister’s maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Laura Frodyma, Josy Cash and Elise Davis, all of Little Rock; Lauren Young of Fayetteville; and Laura Hauge of London. They wore taupe strapless chiffon gowns and carried bouquets of ivory and blush roses, peonies and cymbidium orchids.
Savannah Goodwin of Little Rock was flower girl. Walker and John Steven Goodwin, also of Little Rock, were ring bearers.
The groom’s honor attendants were Christian Alexander of Little Rock and Dr. Jerry Young of Jonesboro. Groomsmen were Ryan Young, also of Jonesboro; David Gelman of Moorestown, N.J.; David Hanger of Los Angeles; and Cody Long of North Little Rock. Guests were seated by David Hesselbein, Sam Baber and Spencer Davis, all also of Little Rock.
A reception at the Country Club of Little Rock followed the ceremony. Guest tables held ivory garden roses, orchids and calla lilies in large vases or low arrangements of wedding flowers surrounded by candles. Music was by the Big John Miller Band.
The bride studied nursing at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, and received a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. She is a registered nurse in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit at Arkansas Children’s Hospital.
The groom received a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Arkansas and a medical degree from UAMS. He is in the second year of a general surgery residency at UAMS.
After a honeymoon in St. Lucia, the couple will reside in Little Rock.
