PCCSD schedules pair of summer-school sessions
The Pulaski County Special School District will hold two summer-school sessions for high school and middle school students, said Deborah Roush, the district’s spokeswoman.
Summer school, which enables students who have failed a course to regain credit, will begin May 31. Middle school classes will include sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grade math and English, with English 1, 2, 3 and 4 and Algebra 1 and geometry offered at the high school level.
Registration for both sessions will continue until Friday for the first session and until June 8 for the second session. The cost is $80 per session for resident students — those attending a PCSSD school — and $300 per session for nonresident students.
Roush said six privately funded scholarships will be awarded at each summerschool site for each session. To qualify for a scholarship, a student must be eligible for free or reduced-price lunches.
Classes will be offered at Fuller Middle School, 808 E. Dixon Road in Little Rock, and at Jacksonville High School, 2400 Linda Lane in Jacksonville. Students may choose which location they prefer to attend.
The first session will be held from 7:30-11:45 a.m. each day, May 31 through June 20 . The second session will run from June 21 through July 12 at the same time.
Summer-school registration forms and scholarship applications are available in each school counselor’s office. For more information, call Learning Services at (501) 234-2078.
