Southern Bank

Looking forward to bigger, better things

-

A subsidiary of the Southern Missouri Bancorp, Southern Bank has a long history in the South. This spring, the bank marked its 125th anniversary as a building and loan association.

Today, the bank has grown into a fullservice institution with a wide variety of both deposit and loan products, including its popular Kasasa checking accounts and in-house home loan products.

With a staff of 11 in Batesville — one of 18 branches in Missouri and Arkansas — who are managed by Community Bank President Lee Deberry and Customer Service Manager Julie Hinkle Allender, Southern Bank prides itself on providing individualized service to all customers.

“Our bank focus is on customer service and giving the best customer service in the market,” Deberry said.

At the end of 2011, Southern Bank reported assets of $773 million, an increase of 12 percent from the year before.

GOOD TO KNOW: Southern Bank is experiencing local growth to go along with its overall company growth. Total assets in Batesville have increased more than 20 percent since the end of 2011 and the staff is looking to better serve customers with a new building. It will be close to 9,200 total square feet, will utilize approximately 5,800 square feet initially and have roughly 3,400 square feet available to lease.

The building is scheduled to be completed in late fall 2012 and the staff plans on moving in close to the end of the year.
