ON TV CONTEST

- JENNIFER NIXON

From battles among the Greek gods to super-hi-tech computer shenanigans, there’s a lot of action on the small screen.

For the On TV Contest, the judge asked readers: What is your favorite action/adventure series?

The answers were varied, including nods for Chuck; The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr.; Gunsmoke; and Xena: Warrior Princess.

All were excellent, but the winner went the extra mile to put her salutes into verse. Clarksville’s Judy Thornton claimed the top prize with a lengthy ode to The Wild, Wild West, an excerpt of which is below: In the long ago time of my lost youth, In the mid-1960s to be more concrete, Though I enjoyed those TV western

shows, I felt a good action show could not be

beat. To my delight, a show appeared, Combining both these genres I liked best. The title of this cool, cool show Was, of course, The Wild, Wild West. James West and Artemis Gordon Were secret agents extraordinaire. They traveled around the old West — A super-duper evil-fighting pair ... Their transportation was a luxury train Featuring hidden compartments and gadgets galore. It was even equipped with a stable car — Plus a laboratory — could even James

Bond ask for more?! ... The story lines were fun and exciting, And the action stunts amazing to see. With great acting and those spectacular

“gizmos,” This is the favorite TV adventure show

for me.

Tune in next week for a new contest.
