SUNDAY’S HIGHLIGHTS

-

Maya Moore scored 19 points, making 5 of 7 three-point attempts, and the defending champion host Minnesota Lynx kept rolling with an 84-71 victory over the Seattle Storm. Minnesota set a team record with its 10th consecutive victory dating to last season, including a sweep of the WNBA finals. In starting 4-0 for just the second time in team history, the Lynx have won seven consecutive regular-season games, two off their nine-game run last season. Seimone Augustus, the league’s second-leading scorer entering Sunday at 22 points per game, added 10 points and 6 assists. Ann Wauters finished with 13 points for Seattle, which fell to 0-3 for the first time since its inaugural season in 2000.

Tamika Catchings had 25 points and 12 rebounds, Katie Douglas added 16 points and the visiting Indiana Fever beat the Atlanta Dream 78-62. Catchings’ double-double was her 73rd, fifth-most on the WNBA’S career list, and helped Indiana (3-0) win its second consecutive over the Dream after losing the Eastern Conference finals to Atlanta last year. Angel Mccoughtry finished with 21 points and Lindsey Harding added 13 for Atlanta, which had a six-game home winning streak over the Fever snapped. Catchings, last year’s league MVP, took charge of the game in the second quarter. She scored 17 points in the period, going 9 for 9 on free throws, banking in a 6-foot runner to force the game’s first tie at 28-28 and hitting a three-pointer to make it 31-31.
