Blues fundraiser

The Ozark Blues Society of Northwest Arkansas will hold two “Road to Memphis Send-off Parties” — 6-9 p.m. Friday at George’s Majestic Lounge, 519 W. Dickson St., Fayetteville ($5 cover at the door) and 7-11 p.m. Saturday at the Metro Italiano, 3607 S.E. Metro Parkway, Bentonville ($7 cover at the door).

Buddy Shute and Leah & the Mojo Doctors will perform both nights.

The events are to help defray the cost of sponsoring the society’s 2012 Blues Challenge-winning acts at the 2013 International Blues Challenge, Jan. 29-Feb. 2 in Memphis.

Soul Food screening

The Arkansas Educational Television Network, public radio station KUAR-FM, 89.1, and the William F. Laman Library will offer a free advance screening of the movie Soul Food Junkies at 6:30 p.m. today in the auditorium of the main library, 2801 Orange St., North Little Rock.

LaVerne Bell-Tolliver, a professor of social work at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, will lead a community discussion after the screening, which is part of the Community Cinema series. Admission is free.

You, the jury

Historic Washington State Park in the Hempstead County town of Washington will host a “Trial by Jury Dinner,” 6-9 p.m. Saturday in the park’s Williams’ Tavern Restaurant.

After dinner, patrons will move to the nearby 1836 courthouse, where they will become the jury in a livinghistory drama based upon an actual 1844 murder trial that took place in the same courtroom.

Dress code is casual or 19th-century costume.

Admission is $25, $20 for children under 14. Reservations are required.
