LR board, ad panel pick leaders

The Little Rock Board of Directors and the city’s Advertisin­g and Promotion Commission announced new leaders Tuesday.

The Board of Directors voted to appoint Ward 6 Director Doris Wright as the city’s vice mayor. She will start a two-year term replacing At-Large City Director Dean Kumpuris at the board’s agenda meeting Tuesday.

Wright is the first black woman to hold the position in the city’s history, according to city records.

The Advertisin­g and Promotion Commission also appointed a new chairman and vice chairman Tuesday.

Warren Stephens will replace Philip Tappan as chairman and Capi Peck will step up as vice chairman starting at the commission’s next regular meeting Jan. 17.
