House speaker to lecture in LR

State Rep. Davy Carter, the first Republican speaker of the Arkansas House of Representa­tives since the Reconstruc­tion era, will lecture Friday about legislativ­e issues expected to be addressed during the 89th session of the Arkansas General Assembly. The lecture will be at the University of Arkansas Clinton School of Public Service in Little Rock.

The legislativ­e session begins Monday.

Carter, a lawyer from Cabot, has represente­d District 48 in the Arkansas House since 2009. He has served on numerous legislativ­e committees, including as chairman of the House Revenue and Taxation Committee.
