Defensive push helps propel PA
One long stretch of good defense by Pulaski Academy was enough to give the Bruins a 50-38 victory over host North Pulaski on Tuesday night in Jacksonville.
Pulaski Academy (5-3, 1-0 5ACentral) held North Pulaski scoreless for almost eight minutes, from early in the third quarter and into the fourth quarter.
The Falcons (7-5, 0-1) trailed 24-20 at halftime, but tied the game at the 6:43 mark of the third quarter before going on a scoring drought.
The Bruins didn’t run away with the game during the surge, but threy did take a 33-24 lead after the first basket in the fourth quarter. Marcus Wallace hit a threepointer early during the run, one of three for the Bruins.
After the Falcons cut the deficit to five points, Wallace hit another three-pointer with 1:55 remaining to give the Bruins a 44-36 lead. Freshman Lawson Kokita made four consecutive free throws in the final 72 seconds to secure the victory.
Kokita led the Bruins with 16 points and nine rebounds. Wallace finished with 13 points.
