Millage elections around Arkansas

Taxpayers in some school districts will decide on proposed changes in their school millage rates. Early voting begins Tuesday for the Sept. 17 school election. Here is a list of proposed changes based on information provided by county clerks and county election commissions. A mill is one-tenth of a cent. Each mill produces $1 of tax for every $1,000 of assessed valuation.

BENTON COUNTY

BENTONVILLE SCHOOL DISTRICT

A 2.9-mill increase, from 43.7 mills to 46.6 mills, constructing and equipping a new high school.

BOONE COUNTY VALLEY SPRINGS SCHOOL

DISTRICT

No change in millage rate, 32.8 mills, new air conditioning and construction and equipment of school facilities.

CHICOT COUNTY

LAKE VILLAGE SCHOOL DISTRICT

A 3.8-mill decrease, from 39.8 mills to 36 mills.

CLEBURNE COUNTY HEBER SPRINGS SCHOOL

DISTRICT

A 3.4-mill increase, from 29.4 mills to 32.8 mills, debt service.

CRAIGHEAD COUNTY

BROOKLAND SCHOOL DISTRICT

A 1.99-mill increase, from 37.01 mills to 39 mills, debt service for construction.

CRAWFORD COUNTY

ALMA SCHOOL DISTRICT

A 1.2-mill increase, from 43.4 to 44.6 mills, maintenance and operations and debt service. MOUNTAINBURG SCHOOL

DISTRICT

No change in millage rate, 39.1 mills, debt service and upgrading schools.

LAFAYETTE COUNTY EMERSON-TAYLOR-BRADLEY

SCHOOL DISTRICT

A 5.4-mill increase, from 32 mills to 37.4 mills, bringing millage into compliance for the Bradley School District after a merger with the Emerson-Taylor School District.

LEE COUNTY

LEE COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT

A 2-mill increase, from 26.3 mills to 28.3 mills, new maintenance and operations.

MARION COUNTY

FLIPPIN SCHOOL DISTRICT

A 2.5-mill increase, from 33.9 mills to 36.4 mills, debt service.

MISSISSIPPI COUNTY

MANILA SCHOOL DISTRICT

A 4.7-mill increase, from 36.7

mills to 41.4 mills, construction.

PIKE COUNTY

CENTERPOINT SCHOOL DISTRICT

A 4.25-mill increase, from 38.6 mills to 42.85 mills, construction.

POPE COUNTY

DOVER SCHOOL DISTRICT

A 5.5-mill increase, from 40.3 mills to 45.8 mills, retirement of existing debt.

PRAIRIE COUNTY

HAZEN SCHOOL DISTRICT

A 3.8-mill increase, from 30.03 mills to 33.83 mills, debt service.

SEARCY COUNTY

SEARCY SCHOOL DISTRICT

A 5-mill increase, from 32.75 mills to 37.75 mills, debt service for construction and improvements.

YELL COUNTY

DANVILLE SCHOOL DISTRICT

A 3.5-mill increase, from 31 mills to 34.5 mills, construction.

WASHINGTON COUNTY PRAIRIE GROVE SCHOOL

DISTRICT

A 6-mill increase, from 36.9 to 42.9 mills, debt service for construction and improvements.
