White County Fair SEARCY — The 77th annual White County Fair continues through Saturday at the county fairground­s, 802 Davis Drive in Searcy. MONDAY Cabot Lions Club Golf Tournament CABOT — The Cabot Lions Club will begin its annual Charity Golf Tournament with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. The four-person scramble will be held at Cabot’s Rolling Hills Country Club on Mount Carmel Road. TUESDAY NCA District Fair Exhibitor Deadline MELBOURNE — The deadline for all North Central Arkansas District Fair exhibit entries is Tuesday. The fair will be Sept. 23-28. Creative-arts entries are limited to 25 exhibits. There is no limit on livestock entries. A fee of $1 per pen for poultry and rabbits will be collected when the exhibits are checked in. All entries need to be made online at www.ncadistric­tfair.org. Livestock entry fees should be mailed to NCA District Fair, P.O. Box 92, Sturkie, AR 72578. UACCB Community Picnic BATESVILLE — The University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville will host a community picnic to celebrate the beginning of the new academic year at 4 p.m. on the lawn outside the Nursing and Allied Health Building and the Row Johns Library. This event is free and open to students, faculty, staff and the community. Hamburgers and hot dogs will be prepared and served on site by John 3:16, and music will be provided by Danny Dozier. There will be a bounce house for children. UACCB Chancellor Deborah Frazier will provide an update regarding fall enrollment and will recognize UACCB’s staff, faculty and adjunct faculty members. North Pulaski Retired Teachers Meeting JACKSONVIL­LE — The North Pulaski Retired Teachers Associatio­n will hold its first meeting of the school year at 11:30 a.m. at First Electric on Loop Road. A light catered lunch will be held to welcome new members. Lisa Bamburg with Insurance Advantage will discuss Act 331, Medicare and the Affordable Care Act. Membership dues are $15 per year. Business After Hours BATESVILLE — The Independen­ce County Shooting Sports Commission will host a Batesville Area Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours from 4:30-6 p.m. at the Paul H.“Rocky” Willmuth Shooting Sports Complex, 3600 N. Saint Louis St. The commission will announce a major range expansion at the event and introduce Lori Lynch, former chief of education for the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, as the new chief operating officer for the Arkansas Game and Fish Foundation. Independen­ce County native Randy Milligan will also be recognized as the new president of the foundation. Shooting and refreshmen­ts will be available. Family Movie JACKSONVIL­LE — The Nixon Library will hold a family movie night at 5:30. Super Buddies, rated G, will be shown. Retired Teachers Meeting HEBER SPRINGS — The Cleburne County Retired Teachers will meet at noon at the Rustic Inn. Act 331, which could affect all retired school personnel’s supplement­al insurance, will be addressed. All retired school personnel are welcome to attend the meeting. Patriots Day Program HEBER SPRINGS — American Legion Post 64, the American Legion Auxiliary, the Sons of the Legion and the community of Heber Springs will hold a program at 11 a.m. to recognize the patriots who died on Sept. 11, 2001, as well as the patriots of all service organizati­ons. The event will be on the north lawn of the Cleburne County Courthouse.

Field of Heroes HEBER SPRINGS — The Field of Heroes — a program offering flags to be purchased and flown on the Cleburne County Courthouse lawn until Veterans Day in recognitio­n of patriots of any service organizati­on — will kick off Wednesday. There will be a ribbon to identify whom the flag is honoring, the service organizati­on and if the military member was killed in action. The flags will be given to the purchasing person at the closing ceremony on Veterans Day. Flags and a placard are $30. The flags can be purchased from American Legion Post 64 Auxiliary members, or call the post at (501) 362-9979. Proceeds benefit local veterans, law enforcemen­t, firefighte­rs and nonprofit organizati­ons. Bank Employee’s 40th Anniversar­y CABOT — Centennial Bank will host an event in honor of Dorothy Putt’s 40th anniversar­y of employment from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the downtown Centennial Bank, 300 W. Main. Friends and community members are invited to a come-and-go reception.

A Taste of the Tropics MELBOURNE – The Culinary Arts department of Ozarka College will have a gourmet night, A Taste of the Tropics, from 5-8 p.m. in the Culinary Arts Dining Room in the John E. Miller Education Complex on the Melbourne campus, 218 College Drive. Another gourmet night is scheduled for Sept. 26 with the theme pending. The events are open to the public, and children’s menus are available. Menus are provided for the entrée selection and pricing. Reservatio­ns are recommende­d but not required.
