The organizers of the Golden Globe Awards have announced that they will honor Woody Allen for his contributions to filmmaking. The Hollywood Foreign Press Association said Friday that Allen will receive the 2014 Cecil B. DeMille Award. A tribute to the 77-year-old actor, writer and director will be included in the 71st annual Golden Globe ceremony set for Jan. 12. Allen’s much-honored films include Annie Hall, Hannah and Her Sisters and Midnight in Paris, which won a Golden Globe and an Academy Award for its screenplay last year.
Actress Nicole Kidman said she was shaken up last week after being knocked down by a bicyclist on a New York City sidewalk. Kidman appeared on the red carpet Thursday night celebrating Francisco Costa’s 10th anniversary as the women’s creative director of the Calvin Klein Collection. Earlier Thursday, the 46-year-old actress was outside a hotel when she was hit by a bicyclist and was knocked to the ground. “I’m up, I’m walking around, but I was shaken,” Kidman said later.
Prosecutors have charged rapper Kanye West with misdemeanor battery over a July scuffle with a celebrity photographer at Los Angeles International Airport. City attorney’s spokesman Frank Mateljan said West also was charged Friday with one count of attempted grand theft. The rapper’s arraignment has been set for Oct. 10, but he is not required to appear if he has an attorney. Photographer Daniel Ramos claims that West punched him in an unprovoked attack and wrestled his camera to the ground at the airport July 19.
