2 die in accidents on Arkansas roads

An Augusta man died Friday after he was thrown from a minivan in White County, according to a preliminar­y Arkansas State Police fatality accident report.

About 2:50 p.m., Weldon Ford, 53, of Quitman was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Venture north on Arkansas 5 in Rose Bud when he negotiated a curve, and the van veered off the road and ran into a tree, state police said. Passenger Timothy Root, 36, was thrown from the van and died of his injuries at the accident scene, state police said.

Ford was taken to UAMS Medical Center in Little Rock, the report states.

Also last week, a Texas man died Thursday of his injuries after a Sept. 7 accident in Garland County, according to a preliminar­y report released Thursday.

Just before 1 p.m. Sept. 7, Clyde Everett, 41, of Copperas Cove, Texas, was driving north in the 5800 block of Arkansas 227 South near Hot Springs when traffic in front of him slowed, state police said. Everett tried to stop his 2009 Honda motorcycle by laying the motorcycle on its side when he lost control, state police said.

Everett struck the ground, and he and passenger Melissa Everett, 42, were taken to Baptist Health Medical Center-Little Rock, the report states.

Clyde Everett died of his injuries about 2:30 p.m. Thursday, the report states.
