MONIKA SCHUGEROVA MITCHELL REID ANDERSON
Monika Schugerova and Mitchell Reid Anderson exchanged marriage vows at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, in Pleasant Valley Church of Christ. The father of the groom officiated.
Parents of the bride are Marian Smolka and Paula Smolkova of Oravska Poruba, Slovakia. Her grandparents are Alzbeta Schurgerova and the late Gejza Schurger of Dolny Kubin, Slovakia, and the late Paula Jurikova and the late Jan Jurik of Oravska Poruba.
Ann and Joel Anderson, 5801 W. 28th St., are the parents of the groom. He is the grandson of Norris Anderson and the late Joel Anderson Sr. of Tuckerman and the late Hester and John Gaskill of Huntsville.
The chancel was decorated with arrangements of white larkspur, carnations and spray roses in fluted vases.
Escorted by the father of the groom, the bride wore a white strapless gown with a sweetheart bodice and full tulle skirt embellished with flowers. She carried a bouquet of white spray roses and hydrangeas.
Serving as maid of honor was Lenka Lehotska of Oravska Poruba. Bridesmaids were Linda Anderson of Tulsa and Ann Anderson of Chapel Hill, N.C.
They wore cocktail-length dresses of mint green chiffon and carried white spray roses and alstroemeria.
Flower girls and ring bearer were Reagan and Jayden Anderson of Tulsa, nieces of the groom, and Henry Anderson of Chapel Hill, nephew of the groom.
Corey Keen of Fayetteville was best man. Groomsmen were Lincoln Anderson of Tulsa and Dr. Deverick Anderson of Chapel Hill, brothers of the groom. Guests were seated by Graham Kervin of New York; Aaron Phillips and Jared Ramey, both of Little Rock; Nick Ruple of Farmington; and Wilson Robertson of Austin, Texas.
A reception in the church’s fellowship hall followed the ceremony. Guest tables covered in white with mint green overlays were centered with glass vases holding floating candles and surrounded by mint green and white fabric flowers made by the bride’s mother.
The bride has a bachelor’s degree in Spanish and physical education from Palacky University, Olomouc, Czech Republic. She is a graduate student at the university studying Spanish and international humanitarian and social service.
The groom has a bachelor’s degree in graphic design from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville and a master’s degree in missions from Abilene (Texas) Christian University. He is a missionary in the Czech Republic.
After a wedding trip to Puerto Rico, the couple will make their home in Olomouc.
