MONDAY Alzheimer’s Walk Early Registrati­on

CONWAY — Early registrati­on for the eighth annual Alzheimer’s Arkansas Walk in Conway will be from 2-7 p.m. Monday at The Carpet Center, 810 Third St. One person from a team, or any individual who wants to walk, may sign up. Registrati­on is free, but a donation of $25 is required to receive a T-shirt, said Melissa Longing, walk organizer. TUESDAY Retired Teachers Meeting

CLINTON — The Van Buren County Retired Teachers Associatio­n will meet at 11:30 a.m. at Western Sizzlin. The guest speaker will be Matt Hughes, an insurance representa­tive endorsed by the Arkansas Retired Teachers Associatio­n. Hughes will talk about the health insurance plans offered to retirees and the Medicare drug plan. He will also discuss long-term care insurance and dental insurance.

Free Movie Night

MORRILTON — The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton will offer Starlight Cinema, a free outdoor community movie night featuring Jurassic

Park. The movie will begin at dusk on the lawn of the plaza courtyard on the UACCM campus. Attendees are asked to bring blankets or lawn chairs. Concession­s will be offered beginning at 7:30 p.m. through a fundraiser for Morrilton Boy Scout Troop 93. The movie will be moved indoors if there is inclement weather. WEDNESDAY Softball Tournament Deadline

RUSSELLVIL­LE — The team registrati­on deadline is 5 p.m. Wednesday for the Russellvil­le Recreation and Parks Department’s 18th annual Battle on the Bayou Softball Tournament, to be held Sept. 21 at Pleasant View Park. The tournament is for men’s teams in class E or C/D, and women’s teams in class D or below. The entry fee is $160 per team. PARIS — The Arkansas Small Business and Technology Developmen­t Center will offer Small Business Risk, Insurance and Identity Theft from 1-4 p.m. at the Paris First National Bank Community Center. SATURDAY Pink Up the Pace Race for a Cure

CONWAY — Conway Regional’s Komen Race Team will sponsor a Pink Up the Pace for a Cure 5K and 1-mile fun run/walk at 8:30 a.m. Saturday. The event, which is open to runners, walkers and families, will include a post-race party and a Zumbathon celebratio­n. The event will begin and end at the Conway Regional Health and Fitness Center. Ozark Memories Day

DOVER —The 35th annual Ozark Memories Day will be held Sept. 28. The free festival, sponsored by the Dover Area Chamber of Commerce, includes a parade, a pancake breakfast sponsored by the Dover Lions Club, games for all ages, craft booths, vendors, an antique car show, a magician, a Dutch-oven cooking contest and a chicken dinner sponsored by the Dover Band Boosters. Antique Fair

MORRILTON — The Morrilton Depot Museum will hold its fifth annual Antique Fair from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 5. People are encouraged to bring antiques, furniture, pottery, silver and other treasures to be appraised by experts from Pinnacle Auction and Estate Services, and John and Phyllis Saugey and Betty and Terry Saugey of Saugey’s Antiques. There will be a $5 donation applied for each three items to be appraised, with proceeds benefiting the museum. There will also be a bake sale and a silent auction.

Mountain Man Rendezvous

LESLIE — The second annual Leslie Mountain Man Rendezvous will be held Oct. 11 and 12. Re-enactors will camp in tents in Leslie and will wear pre-1840s period clothing. The rendezvous will be open to the public from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days. There will be knife and tomahawk throwing demonstrat­ions, as well as shooting demonstrat­ions. Chinese Culture

CONWAY — The Faulkner County Library and the University of Central Arkansas’ Confucius Institute will offer Adventures in Chinese Culture at 2 p.m. Oct. 12. Participan­ts will learn the traditiona­l Chinese tea ceremony. The class is limited to 30 people, and sign-up is required. Also, a class on Chinese paper crafts will be held at 2 p.m. Oct. 26. Jazz Fundraiser

CONWAY — The Conway Symphony Orchestra Guild will present All That Jazz, a fundraiser for the Conway Symphony Orchestra, from 6-9:30 p.m. Oct. 17 in the Southweste­rn Energy building at Hendrix Village.
