- By Linda Garner-Bunch Advertising Feature Writer

An iron gate and a tree-shaded lane welcome guests to this four-bedroom, three-bath log home, which rests on 5.85 acres overlooking Lake Maumelle.

Standing dead Engelmann spruce timber, harvested from national forests in Colorado, comprise the walls of the home, which was built using Swedish cope construction methods. The interior features exposed timbers, large windows and flowing living spaces.

Inside the front door, a vaulted, tongue-in-groove cypress ceiling soars above the carpeted living room. A two-sided, dry-stacked stone fireplace forms a natural divider between the living room and the adjacent dining area and kitchen.

Floored in polished cypress, the well-appointed kitchen offers wood cabinetry, a large island, granite counters, a pantry, a dishwasher, a stainless-gas stove and more.

The spacious master bedroom, located on the main level, is carpeted and has two closets and private access to the deck. The adjoining bath is fitted with a double vanity, a tiled shower and a private water closet. At the other end of the main level is a carpeted guest bedroom, which features a vaulted tongue-in-groove cypress ceiling and has a walk-in closet and access to the deck. The upstairs bath has a single vanity and a bathtub with a tile surround.

The home’s lower level offers two carpeted bedrooms and a tiled bath with a single vanity and a bathtub. There is also a large den on this level, which could be used as a game or media room, and a tiled laundry room with a sink and built-ins.

For outdoor living, the deck offers about 1,000 square feet of space, complete with a hot tub and million-dollar views of Lake Maumelle and Pinnacle Mountain. Crafted of native Arkansas stone, the patio has a fire pit and is perfect for relaxing on cool evenings.

Other amenities include a zoned HVAC system, a two-car garage, extra parking pads, a cedar shake roof and much more.

This house, located at 29818 Arkansas 300 in Roland, has about 3,430 square feet and is listed for $565,000 with Shannon Treece of the Janet Jones Co.; additional acreage is available. Today’s open house is from 2 to 4 p.m. For more information, call Treece at 960-8743.
